How to Download Instagram Reels: A Complete Guide

Published

Downloading an Instagram Reel means saving the video file to your own device, instead of only being able to watch it inside the Instagram app. This is useful for your own content, for videos you have permission to reuse, or for keeping a personal backup.

Step 1: Find a public Reel

ReelsDownloads works only with public Reels, which anyone can view without logging in. Reels from private accounts cannot be downloaded.

Step 2: Copy the share link

Open the Reel, tap the Share icon (the paper plane) and choose “Copy link”. The link should look likehttps://www.instagram.com/reel/<code>/.

Step 3: Paste it into the downloader

Paste the link into the box on theInstagram Reels and Story Downloaderand tap “Download Reel”. The tool checks the link first, so broken or unsupported links are rejected straight away with a clear message.

Step 4: Save the MP4

After 20 to 40 seconds, you will see a preview of the Reel. Tap “Download Now” to save the HD MP4. On iPhone, if the video opens in a new tab, tap the Share icon and choose “Save Video”. On a computer, right-click the video and choose “Save video as”.

Respect creators’ rights

Whichever tool you use, only download Reels you own, that are licensed for reuse, or that you have clear permission to use. Downloading a Reel does not change who owns it.
